OK, I tried this 2 days ago in Performance & Maintenance, but nobody's
responding, so here goes again:

I just booted up and received the following message:
"Systems settings protector has stopped working. A problem caused the
program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify
you if a solution is available."

I have no idea what this means, but I don't like the sound of it. Late
yesterday I did a clean boot on windows because I had to reinstall an mp3
player's software. I then did a reboot and everthing in my startup services
looked ok to me, but I wonder if I missed something there.

Can someone help, please? I'm running 32-bit Home Premium.

Sorry, Rick: are you setting "systems setting protector" is one of Spybot's
tools? If so, why would I get that message, and what would you do - restart
Spybot?

Hi,

Yes, the error message is stemming from part of Spybot's protection
mechanism, it's not able to load. Either disable/remove it, or
reinstall/update the software to correct it.

Thanks, Rick. I've just updated Spybot, and also done a scan with it and
found a cookie called mediaplex (which I "fixed"). So I'll see how things
look over the next week. If I get the same error mesage again, I'll uninstall
and download Spybot again.

Appreciate you taking the time to explain this to me.
