desktop, open. any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks,

Bo

tried line 260 but no luck; had a soundblaster live but never loaded
drivers. when i start up notice says "executing system32\wlnotify"just
before windows fully starts. whet shutting down, system32 has to be ordered
to shut down; ive gave it lots of time for windows to shut it down but i
always have to hit the "end task" button myself.
If you have a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 sound card, see:

Otherwise, see:

excuse me, its rundll that wont shut down, not system32. and, its system32
thats open when xp-pro opens. thanks

If this is a file called SYSTEM32.EXE, then you have a virus or trojan on your system. Possibly KWBot.Worm. You need to update your antivirus software and rescan you system. There are also free online scanners available.

Additionally, you may want to see www.dougknox.com, Win XP Fixes, Clean KWBot.Worm Registry entries for some additional cleanup after the virus has been removed from your system.
