then it says this system file not suitable for running ms-dos and Microsoft
windows application.
Now what did i do, or what should i do to get those 2 programs back? I think
I need those if i want to burn these psp pictures to this nero program. Right?

Seems to be an epidemic lately....

This can be caused by a trojan.

Get rid of the trojan.

Update your antivirus software and run a full system scan.

Copy the autoexec.nt file from C:\Windows\Repair to C:\Windows\System32.
And set Attributes for autoexec.nt to Read-only.

Read-only
[[Specifies whether this file is read-only, which means that it cannot be
changed or accidentally deleted.]]

1. Right click the file.
2. Properties.
3. Select: Read-only.
4. Click: Apply.
5. Click: OK.

Hi,

Extract the autoexec.nt and cmd.exe from a windows xp installation cd.
Usually that solves the problem temporarily. The problem is repititive.
Anyone have an idea what is causing this problem in the first place?
I also have a terrible experience with that problem. Any help is
appreciated.

Shafiee.

First off, and i don't know why i even say this any more cause people seem to think it's bogus or something, try a system restore first. Alot of times this gets back what you lost and is easy. Second, the only time i got those messages is when i tried to use a burning software that was too old for winxp or when i tried burning something that winxp tended to burp up due to being dos. An incompatable program will give you this error, i found this out from experience. When i quit trying to burn the info and tried something else it worked fine. I have also seen this happen mostly when some people had Nero with keygen or other keygen software. I told them to uninstall and delete and the problem went away.

cmd.exe is the command prompt shell executable (the "DOS" mode in Win XP).
I don't see what that has to do with burning cd's.

It doesn't directly but if someone is using an incompatable program or something with a keygen like ehhemm, nero, this may cause this error. I have heard lots of things that cause this. People get this when logging on other users on a network, running games, c++ code and many others. I know it has to do with the 16 bit subsystem but I haven't heard one person say the microsoft fix works for good, only temporary. As the above mentioned, sometimes caused by a trojan, which i haven't heard but i don't doubt it. I did have this happen to me when i tried installing dos games in compatability mode. I had to find all the files, delete them and do a sys restore to get rid of the nagging error. I ' m sure many know more about this error than i do but this is just my info.
