This is my first build and I have had it since Christmas. Until no
everything has worked fine. Earler today I was testing the noise o
my system, so I took the 7800gt out. When I put it back in, th

Don't panic. Remain calm. Whatever you do next, do it without emotion,
cos emotion doesn't help and it might hurt.

Be gentle and respectful of the hardware, and BTW unplug the 'puter
(then hit the on switch to discharge stored energy in the PS), and
ground yourself properly.

Try re-seating the vid card. Re-check all connections, don't assume.

Carefully reseat the video card and try again. It's most likely that
the card isn't properly seated. If the card requires its own power,
make sure that the power connector is properly connected to the card
as well. Don't do any of this with the power on.

Thanks, but no luck. I tried reseating the card several times, bu
nothing changed. I will try some more when I get home from school

Clear CMOS settings and then load default settings (not optimized default
settings). IF that doesn't work, it's likely you've damaged the mainboard
or video card. -Dave

things i can image:

- not properly seated card (yeah, you mentioned that u reseated several
times, but how can i know...)

- pulled other plugs/cards accidently while working with the videocard.
check EVERYTHING

- you were not grounded properly and you killed your videocard or
motherboard while working through electric shock.

- your motherboard got cracked while seating the card. a faint crack is
almost not visible but can kill the mobo.

- any other major cause like "pulled card out while computer was powered
on" ;-) but i assume this is not the cause.

my advise: check alle connections, ram, hd, fdd, other cards, etc to
make sure you pulled nothing out.

take out your videocard, check the computer for dust or something at the
videocards connectors and reseat. pray and have luck.

carefully investigate for any damages to the hardware. carefully move
the motherboard to see whether there are any cracks.

try another videocard to see whether this solves the problem.
try another mobo to see whether this solves the problem.
