I have been trying to work out why my PC wont go to
Standby. It turns out that Giant processes like
gcasServ.exe keep running even when I turn off Real Time
Protection. This Anti-Spyware software is the best yet
but I want my system to sleep when I don't use it.
Any ideas?

Have you checked the Power Options in Control Panel > Hibernate (Tab) >
Enable Hibernation?

I am facing the same problem. When the computer tries to
enter standby mode it just hangs and I get a message
saying Entering Stanby Mode and nothing happens and the
system does not respond. Any ideas?

Dave,

Have MSAS running with Real Time protection enabled and there is no
issue with the system standing by. Have been trying to get standby to
work reliably for the past 8 years and what I discovered was that the
video adapter drivers were the cause of inconsistent standby. Nvidia
adapter is installed on this box and rolling back 2 versions enabled the
system to go into standby consistently.
