well straight to the point one day xp decide it didn't want to boot , i get " ntldr file missing hit any key to restart" right so no problem just do a system restore and your back in business(I wish) My recovery CD that came with my system gives me 2 options: 1) reinstall operating system (lose all files,go back to the day you bought it in other words) and 2) exit
wheres the recovery in that ???? the disk should be called "Start Over Disk" anyway I HAVE to save the files. i need help i been looking for anything to do with xp recovery or repair..everything referrs to the recovery disk(which i have but i lose everything)or an Xp system disk (which is the one i assume that you buy it the store ,,,and i dont have) what can i do ?? anyone who can help me is also restoring my sanity.... thank you

Going Insane,

There is no need for "Going Insane" with this!

Create a floppy disk with the following three files on it and you'll be all
set:

boot.ini
ntdetect.com
ntldr

Check to ensure the bios can look at the floppy during bootup.

Then restart your system with the floppy in it and the start up files will
find these files on the floppy disk and use them to start the system.

Once the system has booted up copy these files from the floppy to your root
drive (i.e. C:)

contact the vendor and mention their name here. Maybe people will learn
what to look for when they buy a computer.
you could also if your computer is fat32 vs. ntfs. Try creating boot floppy
and just copying the file over from the recovery cd just do
a search on the file name without an extension or just copy from another XP
system
