I recently upgraded to home XP and got a worm virus
somewhere along the line. I removed the virus but my anti
virus program is now telling me there is a virus in
c:\system volume information which I presume is an
earlier restore point. The problem is my virus check
jkeeps warning me about it but can't remove it. I can't
remove it manualy because the system tells me "Access
denied". Can anyone help me in what to do?

Control Panel, System, System Restore. Turn it off, reboot, turn it back
on. This flushes your restore points.

Greetings --

To clear viruses from the "System Volume Information," simply turn
off the System Restore feature (Start > All Programs > Accessories >
System Tools > System Restore, System Restore Settings), reboot, and
then re-enable System Restore, if you like. This will delete all of
your Restore Points, including the corrupted one(s), and allow you
start with a clean slate.
