Hope someone can help
Last month I had a fatal/ then serious error where my computer was shutting down and performing all sorts of hijinks
I managed to do a system restore, but that didn't really fix all my woes- then I downloaded updates from ms, thought that would do it -
but now got an error message that System Vol. Info\-restore{letters-numbers} is corrupt and unreadable and to run chkdsk
I think I can figure out how to get into the file, should I delete it? I am fearful of wiping out all of my sytem restore dates- because my computer is still suprising me with these error messages, and I might have to do another restore to an earlier date. Is deleting the corrupt file a safe thing to do?

If the data is corrupted, you need to get rid of it.
There may be corrupted data in system Restore.
Turn off/on System Restore to delete corrupted files:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.
Click System Restore Settings on left side.
Check "Turn off System Restore", click OK, follow prompts and reboot.
This deletes ALL Restore Points including corruption.
Then go back and turn on system Restore and create a Restore Point.
