System volume file inaccessable

My system volume file says "access denied" I have found
viruses buried in there before and would like to examine
it again, but the computer wouldn't let me in??? What is
the problem and how do I correct it??

FOUND THE SOLUTION: Went to safe mode, logged on to admin

added my user id(owner,Don)wentto sys volume, security
and added permision for user Don and prob went away.
