System unstable after using Win Explorer

XP System perfectly stable until I attempt to view files
on harddrive using either Windows or Internet Explorer.

CPU becomes 100% occupied and the system is unusable until
I end the explorer application.

Using an ABIT NV7-S board that uses an Nvidia 2 chipset.

Using Nvidia 3.13 forceware chipset drivers.

Same here. Plus the shell keeps "stopping unexpectedly" without even an error message. After restart, all my icons are scrambled. Plus Internet Explorer's scroll bar is whacky... clicking on it moves the page down two pages instead of just one.
