By and large, an icon gets added to the system tray by running a
program which puts its icon there. You don't get to choose to put
them there yourself.
However there are third-party programs that provide that
capability. A google search can turn them up.
Much easier to add them to the Quick Launch toolbar, and they are just
as accessible as the System Tray.
Right-click on a blank section of the taskbar select Toolbars and
click on the Quick Lauch item if it is not already checked. Then
just drag an icon for whatever you want from the desktop to the Quick
Launch section of the taskbar.
Good luck
