What do I absolutly need in my systems tray,
Windows needs nothing. What *you* need is up to you. You should
have what's useful to *you*, and nobody else can tell you what
that is.
and how can
I get rid of the rest of them.
On each program you don't want to start automatically, check its
Options to see if it has the choice not to start. Many can easily
and best be stopped that way. If that doesn't work, run MSCONFIG
from the Start | Run line, and on the Startup tab, uncheck the
programs you don't want to start automatically.
I'm trying to speed up my
startup.
Personally I think it would be foolish to get rid of anything you
find at all useful to speed up your startup. Most of us start our
computer no more than once a day, and it shouldn't be terribly
important if it takes an extra two or three minutes. I start my
computer when I get up in the morning and go get my coffee. When
I come back, it's finished booting. I don't know how long it
takes to boot and I don't care.
