I have 3 computers purchased from Gateway running XP5.1
that do not have this utility and 1 from Compaq that
does. Why and what do I have to do to get the backup
utility on the 3 that don't have it? Thanks

Backup is installed automatically on XP Professional, but not on
XP Home. If you have the complete XP Home CD, find backup on the
CD, in \ValueAdd\MSFT\NTBACKUP and install it yourself by
doubleclicking the file ntbackup.msi.

If you don't have an XP CD, you can download ntbackup.msi at
http://www.onecomputerguy.com/software/ntbackup.msi

Hi, Terry.

Are the two that do not have NTBACKUP Windows XP Home Edition? By default,
WinXP Pro has NTBACKUP; whereas you can install it on Home Edition from the
CD:
