System Stopped Working

I am running Windows XP. I was prompted to install Service Pack 3 After
downloading it, the system froze and after several hours, I turned the
computer off and then restarted it. I received the message "LSASS.exe
Application Error The application Failed to Initialize Properly (0xc0000005)
Click to Terminate" Windows will not start and I also receive this message
when I try to start in safe mode. I tried all of the safe mode options
(including last known good settings) to no avail. I have put in the
installation disc in and it does nothing. Any help in getting past this or
suggestions about how i might recover the information that was stored would
be appreciated.
 
Unless you haven't used your computer since April of 2008, you've been
prompted to install Service Pack 3 every time you've started your computer.

Uninstall Service Pack 3; restart your computer; then follow these
instructions:
