System Standby

Hi:

No matter what value I set the system standby for (10 minutes, 1 minute...)
the screen goes blank for maybe a few seconds and the light on the front of
the PC blinks - which is all normal.

But, then after a few seconds the PC comes out of standby and is completely
active again.

No applications active on the task bar - all shut down.

Anyone know why this is happening? Is something running in the background
that could be causing this?

This doesn't sound like the expected behavior of standby. Can you open Task
Manager to check to see if all the programs are really closed? (If so, you
may just want to try running a virus scan to be safe.)
