Hi All

I am runnning winXP [home] on an system with an Asus
a7v8x-x mobo, athlon XP 2500+ processor and kingston 512mb
ram. At first, XP booted in no time - lately [intermittedly
at first, now every time I boot] just after I turn the
computer on, the system hangs for about 4 mins before
handing over to the O/S which then loads in a few seconds.
Even if I try to divert to the BIOS settings it'll still
hang for about 4mins, then eventually load.

The only new hardware i've added to the machine is an lg
dvd burner but the problem still happened intermittedly
before then.

Once the O/S has loaded everything runs smoothly, it's just
a pain waiting so long for startup to finish... any
suggestions??

Thanks in advance
Bek

Do you have two Anti-Virus softwares running? (i.e. Norton and McAfee). Also, try disbaling your firewall (from XP) (start, control panel, network and internet connections, network connections, right click icon, properties, advanced tab.)
