Hi world

I have a windows XP and thiese days I found I can't share files in my LAN.
on Further study I found my system Security Policies were changed without
notice.
Here is one of them

Local Policies / User Rights Assigment / Access this computer from the
network

Before there were few users and user groups in this policy item, now it is
empty
when I change it back it was demlished in a minute.

Who can change my local policies without advice on the Internet? How can I
prevent this
happened again and restore them back?

Cheers

Charlie

Are you using a domain? If so that user right may be assigned by domain policy but in
XP you usually can not even edit the setting if that is the case. If you are not in a
domain on the lan you may have some serious system compromise problem. You really
need to be using a firewall, even the built in one in XP is excellent protection
though will interfere with lan access. The link below describes how to reset your
security settings back to default defined levels using the secedit command and is
worth a try. Be sure to do a thorough check of your computer using the latest virus
definitions on your virus program and also scan parasites using AdAware or SpyBot
S&D. See the second link on minimum procedures to protect your computer. --- Steve
