System runs at 96%

Every couple of days my system will run at about 96%,
making my computer unusable, this lasts for a couple of
days then goes back to th original state, and so on and
so on.

Ive tried running virus software over it and it caome
back with nothing.

can anyone help?

Two programs: Spybot's Search & Destroy and Lavasoft's Ad-Aware. Both are
free.

Use XP's Task Manager to find out what app or process is using
the PC. Hit ctrl-alt-del to bring up TM, and set it to display
processes. Once you find the name of the culprit, then you can
find out where it lives and (maybe with difficulty) what it is.
