System restores not available

I wanted to restore XP to an earlier time and discovered that the only
checkpoints visible were for today and yesterday. I know that earlier ones
had been made because I'd done a restore some time ago. Is there some way to
check what check points should be available. In the settings I've reserved
the max for storage of checkpoints and they are enabled.

Any help appreciated. Apologies if this is the wrong newsgroup!

After some rooting about I found the system event log and an error from
system restore (sr) this said -

"The System Restore filter encountered the unexpected error '0xC0000010'
while processing the file 'New Folder' on the volume 'A105X'. It has stopped
monitoring the volume.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp."

The Microsoft link said that system restore purges existing system restores
when it encounters an error - doesn't seem a great idea to me!!

So that explains where my previous restores went. Anybody any idea what the
error was all about?
