System restore

I have just removed the BlasterWorm using the Norton Fix and now my System Restore will not work. I get the following errors "System Restore unable to protect your machine. Turn off your computer and try again". When I try to use one of the suggestions of turning off System Restore and rebooting the machine I get "System Retore encountered an error trying to enable/disable on or more drives. Turn off your computer and try again". Any way to fix this problem with out reformatting and reinstalling XP?
 
Thanks, but I have tried that and I have tried the other fix of turning off system restore, and deleting the info in the Sys info folder. I cannot delete the file becasue it says it is in use by another program. Any other ideas?
