system restore

Please can anyone help me? I have got several system
restore points set on my xp pro m/c. Whenever i try to go
back to any of them the computer goes through the motions
and then at the end says it cant restore to this restore
point and to try another one.

This, unfortunately, is more common than not.

You must turn off system restore, reboot, turn back on system restore.
You will lose all previous restores, but your new ones should be good.
