I have been trying to go to a previous restore point that
I created about 2 weeks ago and get a message that
states "Unable to restore, no changes have been made." I
have also tried different restore points on different
dates and continue to get the same message. Does anyone
have any idea what is going on and how to be able to
correct it? I have never had this problem when I have
used System Restore before. I have tried shutting
everything dowm and restarting without success.
Any help will be gratly appreciated. Thanks

Hi

One or more of the System Restore files could have been corrupted - try
turning SR off/on - but I'm afraid that you will lose any existing
checkpoints:

Right click My Computer, select Properties and then the System Restore tab.
Enable 'Turn off System Restore on all drives' and reboot your PC. After
that 1st reboot go back into SR and disable 'Turn off System Restore on all
drives' and reboot your PC again. After that 2nd reboot you should have one
new SR checkpoint.

Thanks for the assistance. It is working correctly but I did lose all
previous restore points. Thanks again for the help.

No Colin I have not updated to SP2. I have heard to many horror stories about
it.
I did what Will suggested and it worked.

As far as I can determine, the horror stories trace back to poor maintenance
prior to the upgrade and not to SP2 itself. I maintain seven XP real and
virtual systems and all seven upgraded to SP2 without a hitch.
