Some advice from you good folks if possible.I'm runnintg XP and i'm quite a novice so please bear with me.Every time I turn on my P.C. it reverts to the settings it had four days ago,as if a systems restore had been performed. If I load some new progs or games they install, show and run fine untill I restart the P.C. and then they are gone.I've tried a systems restore myself but as the restoring files blue line nears it's end it seems to stop and nothing happens until the machine reboots and tells me to restart with systems restore.I've tried a couple of times but this cycle of non-restoring just goes on.Windows Update is clear i.e. no updates available,NAV scans are O.K. as are Ad Aware and Spy Bot.Does this sound familiar to any of you and any suggestions would be so appreciated.Regards Jude

I can't say if System Restore is the issue with regard to your settings
though it does sound like it is trying to restore to an earlier point.
Usually, when System Restore is unable to do so, it's an indication the
System Restore file store is corrupt.

The way to deal with that is to turn off System Restore, reboot and turn it
back on. Before you do anything, I strongly suggest you backup your data
because we really aren't sure of what's causing you to lose your settings on
each reboot and you should be prepared for a worst case scenario.

To turn off System Restore, open Control Panel, open System, go to the
System Restore tab, place a check next to "Turn off System Restore on all
drives, click apply and ok and reboot the system. NOTE: this will clear all
restore points up to now but it does not appear they were working for you at
this point anyway. Once you reboot, you can turn System Restore back on by
reversing the above procedure, simply remove the check next to "Turn Off
System Restore..", click apply and ok again.

During all these reboots you should get some idea if this resolves the other
issue as well. If not, post back.
