Chas

Firstly, I am not especially computer literate!

A few days ago I had to turn off System Restore to remove
a virus file - this was part of the process as advised.
Today, one of my software programs (a downloaded one)
crashed, and I went to System Restore to kick my PC into
an earlier date. I switched ON Sys.Restore but it won't
let me go back in time. Is there a way round this
please? I have to go to work now, so anyone with the
answer, could you kindly e-mail me at the above address
with the solution? many thanks - I'll owe you a beer!!

regards,

Chas

Sorry, but you're out of luck. Once you turn off the
system restore, it automatically deletes any saved restore
points that had been created. Try going in the add/remove
programs and uninstall the program that is giving you
problems. Good luck.

Chas,greetings.
When you turned off System Restore to eliminate the virus on SR , you should
have then been instructed to turn off your computer. Then reboot and go back
to System Restore and create a new restore point , rather than what you did
, which was leave it turned off. By leaving SR turned off , it cannot make
any SR points for you to use. It must be on in order to create new points.
Sorry for your problems, but now you know. Better late than never.
Don't feel bad, I just learned this myself. I am also computer challenged.
