How can I set System Restore back to the default settings?
I have allowed the maximum space on my hard drive and have plenty of free
space, but System Restore only saves the last 24 hours.
I have tried to tinker with the Registry settings after searching for the
way to do it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

To understand your problem better you should go to Control
Panel/Adminitrative Tools/Event Viewer and look for all entries with 'sr'.
If your problem is the same as the one I have, also only retains one
automatic Restore Point,(Automatic=the Restore Point made automatically by
the system at nominally 24 hour intervals) you may find an entry to the
effect you have insufficient disk space (ID 107 I believe). This will be
followed by another entry to the effect that sufficient disk space is
available and a 'Restore Point' made. (I have over 10GB free space
available) In my case the interval between these occurences is between
30-60 minutes.
If your problem matches the above I'm afraid you will be joining a small
number with the same problem for which there appears to be no solution, at
least at present.
As an aside although all previous restore points are deleted when the system
'choose' to automatically create a Restore Point, I can create any number of
Restore Points either 'manually' (I initiate the creation of a Restore
Point) or if I load or unload a program the system will create a Restore
Point and not delete previous Restore Points.
I use ERUNT to 'backup' my Registry. This brilliant program is freeware and
can be found by searching 'Google'.
