Please walk me through a system restore on Vista Ultimate. I ran Ad-Aware,
deleted some MRUs and now I have no sound. Will a System restore to a couple
of hours ago fix my problems? It's going on 3 hours now. I found the files
but can not figure how to replace them. Please help

Also, if you are using Norton as your Anti-virus, disable it before doing a
System Restore, as it causes problems with it.

Seems like I see a lot about Norton in these groups.

Is it really as crappy as everyone says, or am I only seeing a small
sampling of people?

It's really that crappy. This applies to the consumer distribution that is
overloaded with unnecessary resource hogging services and system bogging
routines. This does not apply to the leaner corporate product. If the
consumer version was distributed to corporations, they would likely find an
alternate solution.

Installed with recommended settings, you might as well toss the system out
the window or use it for a doorstop. Stripped down to the essentials, it's
not so bad but Symantec makes that difficult in the name of protecting the
consumer from themselves.

Well you're certainly seeing only a small sampling of people, but in
my view, and in the view of most of the more experienced people here,
yes, it's really that crappy.

Thanks guys. I've always depended on the free ones and haven't spent
a lot of time in groups like this.
