I have Task scheduler set for a once a week Restore point creation.
It tells me it has done it, but there is no record in the System Restore
window.
In fact, it is not doing any automatic setting of Restore Points, at all.
Surely things like
installing new software should trigger one.
I have to set RP's manually.
Any thoughts ?
Moray.

I believe System Restore has some logic built in so that only one restore
point is created daily. Don't quote me on this because I don't remember the
specific details on how many, but I do recall that if you are creating a
bunch of manual restore points, the system may skip the automatic one if you
already have one created that day. My advice is to let the system sit for a
few days and not create manual restore points. See what happens.

Jill,
Thanks for the reply.
I don't actually create a manual restore point every day, only when I do a
significant change/update.
Yesterday a Critical Update for Windows Live Toolbar said it was creating a
restore point as part of the pre-install process,
but there was no record of it.
This problem has only manifested itself since I did a clean re-install of
Vista to clear out problems with my ADSL modem not liking Vista.
Since the clean re-install and changing to a driverless Router, Vista seems
to be working a lot better, apart from this restore thing.
Prior to the re-install, on a Dell dimension 9200 by the way, the Dell-ised
Vista did Create restore points to the Task Schedule.
