Hi, I tried to open my system restore the other day and it said " rstrui.exe Unable To Locate Component" Then It said " This application has failed to start beacuse framedyn.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem".

Can some one give me a step to step guide how to fix this?

Please, Foley

1) Make sure that your system date is set correctly by using the Date/Time tool in the Control Panel. I done that ^^

2) Click Start, point to Settings, and then click System. I have done this

3) Click the Performance tab. But I can't find this :(

"Performance" is found under the "Advanced" tab once you have your System window open.

The actual button says "settings" but it's in the performance category in the top section of three sections.

Actually I just took a gander on my system and those instructions must apply to specific versions of XP because I'm using Pro and my tabs are NOT set out that way.

The only place I have "performance" is where I posted however after reading the complete instructions in that knowledge base workaround article it is apparent all they want you to do is disable system restore then reboot and turn it back on again.

To do that on my Windows XP Pro all you have to do is either press the "windows" and "Pause/Break" keys at once or take the scenic route by going "Start>Settings>Control Panel>System to bring up the System window and then one of the tabs offered is in fact "System Restore".

Click on that tab and simply check the box that says "Turn off System Restore on all drives" then reboot.

If you want system restore functioning then don't forget to go back in there after your reboot and uncheck that box to turn it back on. ;)

HELP!! My system restore still isn't working :(

Well, if the article didn't solve your problem you'll probably have to use your operating system disk and do a repair of XP.

Not much more I can suggest given what little information given.

Often times it helps if you can give a little background info such as was new software recently installed before the problem occured or was an update installed.

Basically doing a repair install should put back what is missing as the original post indicates.
