System Restore

I did a desktop clean up, an now have lost a lot of "stuff". I tried
System Restore, but it won't allow me to do it. Message says, "System
Restore will not protect your computer", and will not let me do
anything but close it. Does anyone know how I can uninstall then
reinstall System Restore. I do not have the disk.
 
Why dont you try shutting it down...then reboot and turn it back on.
if that does not make Restore wotk get back to us
