system restore

I attempted to restore but system would not restore. I selected a restore
point listed and it went through the entire pocess but when system restarted
and I logged in it stated system restore was incomplete. I eventually found
a system restore point to use dated dec 23) but I wanted to go back further
to dec 21 or 20 but was not able to do so. Why?

Hi Jim,

Try running System Restore from Safe Mode.
Restart your computer, and then press F8 during the initial startup to start
your computer in Safe Mode.

Log on to an administrator account. In Safe Mode type or paste the following
command in the Start - Run box then press Enter.

%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe
