Hello nass,
I got as far as line 3 in the KB and did not find :framedyn.dll in the
dllcache., so I gave up and here I am reporting back; BUT I DID a search
and found the file in C:|WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386. Dare I?, and
then proceed with the pasting routine in the next phase?

Hi Herb,
You haven't been clear did you paste the file and given you the message to
tell you do you want to proceed and you said *yes*.
Try to paste the file to this path:
"C:\Windows\System32\Resotre Directory"
You will be prompted click *yes*.
If the file is bad try to download it from here:

Hi Nass and Kinney,
I went ahead and copied the 'framedyn' file from
C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386
pasted in to where it said, and so far I'm back in business.

Now if I only could find such good answer to my not being able to enter
the BIOS (delete doesn't work)then I'd REALLY be back in business.
Perhaps an earlier restore point will help, now that it's running again.

Thank U all who so kindly responded to my plight.
Cheers-Herb.

Glad to see System Restore is working now.

What is the reason for wanting to enter the BIOS?

At boot-up, most systems display the key to use to enter the BIOS or system
setup. What's the make and model of the system in question?

Hi Bert,
Yes it's working thank U, but the older restore points, where I tho't I
could solve my BIOS and SAFE MODE problem, tell me that they can't be
restored.

I'm using an ABIT 7 motherboard with an AWARD 6.00 BIOS. Pressing
DELETE, per the boot up screen, does nothing. Also....
pressing F8 to get into SAFE MODE, does nothing. I even changed from a
Logitech cordless keyboard to a USB Memorex, no help. Can't use a PS2
K.board as my M board doesn't have the connection. Another rock & a hard
place.

I did get into safe mode via the command line, but I couldn't get out of
it when I press START again because RUN didn't appear in SAFE MODE.
I would like to have these functions available again and I'd hate to
have to do a repair and possibly foul things up even more.
Cheers-Herb.

Hi Herb,
Well done first mile gone, come to the second one.LOL
I will take in consideration these causes for your Keyboard:
1= A broken/bend Pin (s) .
2= If your computer that old you may need to change the CMOS Battery it may
going bad or outdated.
3= As Bert mentioned it will be handy if you said/mentioned what the
Manufacturer of the Motherboard/BIOS.
4=Try to unistall and reinstall the Keyboard from the Device Manager and
Reboot and the System will install a fresh Driver for it that may help.

If you are up and runing check your computer is clean from malware and
viruses and Run check disk and Defrag, then updates.

P.S How do you Access the BIOS, describ the procedure you may doing it
wrong!,just curious may that help.

HTH.
Please report back.

Hi Bert and All who tried to help me,
Took ur advise and talked to Abit. S-o-o-o simple. I tho't it might be
something simple, but had no idea what.

I had the USB cables on the cordless m/b as well as the corded USB m/b
connected to a USB2 port. The techie had me move them to USB1 and VOILA.
Tho't U'd like to add this to Ur book of goodies. know. Again thanx all
for the help.

Now if I only could go back to an older restore point, but I tried quite
a few and the report on all was negative.
/h

Glad to see you have the keyboard issue resolved.

As for the System Restore problem, the majority of the time this is caused by a
corrupt restore point. Turning System Restore off then on again will purges all
existing restore points, and creates one new one.

Try running System Restore from Safe Mode.
Restart your computer, and then press F8 during the initial startup to start
your computer in Safe Mode.

Log on to your computer with an administrator account or with an account that
has administrator credentials.
In Safe Mode type or paste the following command in the Start - Run box then
press Enter.

%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

There are also other possibilities that can cause this to happen. The following
