|i have lost system restore how can i get it back

It doen't tell us much as to whether you ever had system restore running or what happened for it to disappear. The following may not even help but you can try this and see what happens.

Manual steps to turn on System Restore
To turn on System Restore, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. Click the System Restore tab.
3. Click to clear the Turn off System Restore check box (or the Turn off System Restore on all drives check box), and then click OK.

yes i have had it running but it is no longer onmy computer can i obtain it
from anywhere or is it gone for good

What happens when you try and turn it on like the other poster said? Why\how
did it disappear? Did you delete anything?

If you can't re-enable it search for a file called sr.inf. When you find it
right click it and select install. You might need your install media.

First, from Explore>toolbar>tools>folder Options>view>scroll down and select
'show hidden files and folders'.
and clear 'hide extensions for known file types, ( you may want to undo this
when you are all through with restoring SR.)

Now, from the Start>Run command type in this
%Windir%\INF

and hit enter.
Now, look for this file, SR.INF and when you find it, right click it and
select ' install'.

Hi Chris,

Go to Start - Run and paste the following command them press enter.

%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

Report back with any messages received.

This can also be performed from Safe Mode.

Restart your computer, and then press F8 during the initial startup to
start your computer in Safe Mode or Safe Mode with a command prompt.
