Since Software Distribution Service 2.0 was downloaded to my PC with Automatic Updates I cannot use System Restore, it goes through the motions of restoring but when the PC is restarted I get, " Your computer cannot be restored to (the point I requested) No changes have been made to your computer so I cannot restore to a point before Software Distribution Service 2.0 was downloaded to me. How can I uninstall this Software Distribution service 2.0

It is a service designed to allow software to be distributed whenever you get
an update. It is used in conjunction with system restore because typically
when you receive an auto-update from MS, system restore launches in case
something goes wrong with the update. YOu can then roll it back to a
"pre-install period".

That site there explains SUS 2.0 which is basically (AFAIK) the same as SDS
2.0 apart from the fact that SDS is auto-installed and SUS 2.0 is used by
system administrators to control what updates from Microsoft get installed on
their LANs.

Thanks Byte for your response. I have read what SDS2.0 is supposed to do but it does not solve my problem. I still cannot use System Restore, I cannot get to a point before SDS2.0 was downloaded because the PC will not let me! I am not the only one with this problem, if you ask Google about System distribution Service 2.0 you will find a lot of very frustrated people out there who wish they had never heard of SDS2.0

Tried your suggestion Byte but to no avail. When I tried to System Restore
in Safe Mode I got the same response as before and I tried to find SUS in
Add/Remove plus all the upgrades and it does not show, this was also in Safe
Mode. Since this has happened I cannot see what is on my HDD(C) but when I
do a Search for Programs and Files or Documents and Settings nothing comes
up.
It is beginning to feel that Today is the last day of the rest of my life,

Like Peter Robinsons experience, I connot get system restore to work either.
Exactly the same happens to me as with Peter, after "service 2.0" was
downloaded on automatic updates.

Welcome to the club Brian, if you go to any of the search engines and type
in Software Distribution Service 2.0 you will be surprised to see just how
many people there are out there who have been adversely affected by SDS2.0
and this goes back to last summer.
