When I try to run System Restore, I get a message that I
need to restart my computer. I went to windows XP Home
help and found that if my computer has a file
with the name of winint.ini to rename it and try again.

I did Winint.ini, and I changed the name as instructed by
the Windows help file, but it didn't work. So the next
solution was on the Windows site was to run scanreg /fix,
but got a message that Windows could not find that
command.

I Also tried to start Restore System Services, but it
fails with and error of 1359: an internal error occured.

There was a post that suggesting disabling and then
reabling the drives in the System Restore tab under
services. I got the same message to reboot and try again.

Does anyone have any suggestions on this?

Thanks in advance

Do a search for the sr.inf file which is normally located
in C:\windows.

Make sure you enable search hidden files in your search
criteria.

Right-click on the sr.inf file and select the install
option.
