I am having "snowballing" problems with my laptop. First
got an error message regarding "svchost.exe" and then the
errors just began piling up and cannot access much of
anything. Is there a way to system restore in Windows 2000.
Does anyone have any suggestions. I am going crazy.

And to answer the second portion of that question, no there is not a system
restore feature in Windows 2000.

This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

Repair in Place (via Safe Mode) is the equivalent, but usually entails
reinstalling some software and all patches and updates.

Try this _after_ you've run a virus check and cleaned your system.

.
restore with windows 2000 upgrade to get back up and
running. It will not lose any information and then you can
do the updates later. Works everytime.
