How does one turn off (disable) System Restore from the
command prompt. Can I do this for remote PCs as well?

It's possible with a short WSH script. See my reply in
microsoft.public.scripting.wsh.

Hi Torgeir, checked again with Mozilla Firefox and it works.

Using Mozilla 1.6, it doesn't work for me...

Maybe groups-beta.google.com doesn't like old links ?

Correct, the ones with "threadm=" in the URL (thread view). The old
links with "selm=" in the URL (single post view) still works fine.

I don't like the beta due to formatting in variable width fonts and
terrible strayed in line breaks.

Me to, but Show Options/Show original will give you the source without
this messy formatting (adds ?dmode=source to the URL as in the link I
provided).

Doesn't work with IE here either. However, adding .au to the domain
works:
<http://www.google.com.au/[email protected]>
or indeed:

The "beta" format is execrable; what's worse is that I can't evade it:
every visit to groups.google.com is redirected to groups-beta...; using
several international suffixes (ca, co.nz, co.uk, com.au - there are
probably more) still works the old way, though.
