I get a message that I need to restart my computer. I
went to windows XP Home and found that if you have a file
with the name of winint.ini to rename it and try again.

I did that, but it didn't work. So the next solution was
to run scanreg /fix, but got a message that Windows could
not find that command.

I Also tried to start Restore System Services, but it
fails with and error of 1359: an internal error occured.

Does anyone have any suggestions on this?

Thanks in advance

Greetings --

Many problems with System Restore can be fixed just by disabling and
enabling it. Also make sure you have XP SP1 installed.

1. Click the Start menu -> Run. Type sysdm.cpl in the Open field. Click OK.
2. Click the "System Restore" tab.
3. Click to check the "Turn off System Restore on all drives" box, and click
OK.
4. Restart the computer.
5. Click the Start menu -> Run. Type sysdm.cp in the Open field. Click OK.
6. On the "System Restore" tab, remove the check mark from the "Turn off
System
Restore on all drives" box, and click OK.
7. Restart the computer again.
8. Check whether you can use the System Restore utility.

Chris,
thanks for the info. I tried it to disable and enable
the drives as you suggested, but it now times me "one or
more of the drive did not respond to please restart the
computer and try again.

Still can't get System Restore up and running.
I tried the suggestions by Chris below. The system won't
let me disable the drives. It also says that I must
reboot, but rebooting does not work either.

Please see notes below for further explanation.
