I was trying to do a system restore to an earlier point
(yesterday, which was a system checkpoint). It goes
through the process of restoring, but then I get a
message saying it could not restore this point, and to
pick another restore point. But I have tried going back
as far as late December, and I get the same message. Has
anyone else had this happen, and what, if anything, can I
do to get my system restore to work again. I have never
had any problems with it before. Thanks for the help

Kathy;
There may be corrupted data in system Restore.
Turn off/on System Restore to delete corrupted files:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.
Click System Restore Settings on left side.
Check "Turn off System Restore", click OK, follow prompts and reboot.
This deletes ALL Restore Points including corruption.
Then go back and turn on system Restore and create a Restore Point.

I have exactly the same problem and have not yet found a solution anywhere.
It has worked in the past, but has now given up.
Judging by the number of requests for help in this newsgroup, without anyone
reporting they have found a solution, implies there is no solution - good
old bill gates!

This can be caused by a corrupt restore file. Best fix is to turn off restore
function, reboot and turn restore back on. The effect is deleting the corrupt
file. Unfortunately it will take time to rebuild restore points.
