system restore "sr.inf"

i was recently advised by Bert Kinney to attempt to repair my system restore,
i have followed all of his advice to the letter without success, in the final
section of his advice it suggests re-installing system restore. in windows
explorer i cannot find "sr.inf" can anyone tell me why?

Set Win Explorer to show all files and folders:

Bring up Windows Explorer / Tools / Folder Options/ select VIEW Tab and look at all of settings listed.

"CHECK" (turn on) Display the contents of system folders.

Under column, Hidden files and folders----choose ( *select* ) Show hidden files and folders.
Next, un-check Hide extensions for known file types.
Next un-check Hide protected operating system files.

Look at your Windows folder ( Windows or WINNT) then for a sub-folder INF.
SR.INF will be in \WINNT\INF or in \Windows\INF
