i did a system restore about four or five times. when the
computer started again i noticed that the system restore
backups are taking up about 10GB on the hard drive.

Does anyone know how to delete this?

If I'm understanding you correctly then you want to go and right click on 'My Computer' and go to properties and there you will see system restore tab, click on that . you can move the slider to any size you want for your backups and to clear all your backups you have now, click on' turn off restore,' then reboot and go back in and turn back on and you should have no backup times now and you can start fresh. Just don't forget you will loose all your backup times when you turn it off.

in system tools open disk cleanup and go to more options. You will see
system restore in there, the option being to delete all but the newest
restore point.
