My PC creates restore system checkpoints pretty often
without me installing any new software or drivers. Is
there a setting to change how often theses restore points
are created? I don't need a restore point every 2 or 3
days.

System Restore automatically creates Restore Points as it
seems fit. There is no way to change the scheduling of it.

You can cut down the amount of disk space from the default 12% of the disk
to something more reasonable. This is about the only control you have ,
other than disabling System Restore. To do this; Open System restore and on
the left side you will see, "System Restore Settings". On the System Restore
tab, click the drive you wish to change and click settings. You can move the
slider to whatever you want to allow for restore. By default, there will be
a restore point set each day or when you install software or make some other
change to the system. The oldest restore points are "bumped" when a new one
is created.
