my system restore points totally disappear every week or
so. I will check one day and there will be several
restore points listed and then the next day they are all
gone and I have no restore points. Can anybody help me
so that all my restore points don't disappear.

Thank you,

There are a few reasons for System Restore to reset:

Sharon F,

I found an error message under event logs for system
restore that says, "The System Restore filter encountered
the unexpected error 0xC0000040 while processing the file
THE BEE GE...89.mpg.Ink on the volume HarddiskVolume1.
It has stopped monitoring the volume.

Do you know what this means or can you explain it to me
if it is related to erasing my system restore points?

Thanks,

David M

Yes it's related and at the moment the problem is attributed to "a rare set
of circumstances" caused by RealOne Player software. There is no fix
suggested in the article:

Windows System Restore Utility Quits and All Restore Points Are Deleted
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;812119

You should be able to resume monitoring though: Right click My Computer and
select Properties. On the next screen that appears, you will be able to see
at a glance if System Restore is currently active (Monitoring will be noted
in this case) or if it still suspended (Turned Off). Select the drive you
want monitored. Click Settings. Remove the check from the box next "Turn
off System Restore on this drive."

Thank you, ok you can try this if you want two ok make new restore point
every 2 two 3 days and then check two see if they are still there ok they
are other things that you could be doing two delete but i dont no for sure i
am not there do you every use disk cleanup if you will look there is a tab
that will take you two delete all but the most recent restore points ok this
will delete almost all of them if anyone else is useing your system it could
of been done accidently ok your friend Jeff
