System Restore, plus a couple of unrelated questions

All at once, the System Restore won't work on my XP home
version of windows. I get a window that says "Failed to
restore" when I attempt to do this function. I've tried
three seperate dates (and yes, I did remember to click on
the bold dates on the calendar), all to no avail.

And I'm wondering if the above problem might be related
to the following: I'm currently experiencing a problem
with my Sygate Personal Firewall in which it will not
load and the icon has disappeared from the system tray. I
have attempted to uninstall/reinstall, but it will not
completely uninstall. I get a window that reads:

"Error Number 0x80040702
Description: Failed to load dll: SetAid

Setup will now terminate."

I am running XP home version 2001 and am using the
microsoft office program.

The reason I was attempting a System Restore is to be
able to use the Sygate personal firewall again, since I
can't seem to delete it completely.

I don't know if that is the cause of System Restore
refusing to cooperate, or whatever it may be.

Thanks in advance for any help you could give me.

Regards,
Gary

System Restore issue:
There may be corrupted data in system Restore.
Turn off/on System Restore to delete corrupted files:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.
Click System Restore Settings on left side.
Check "Turn off System Restore", click OK, follow prompts and reboot.
This deletes ALL Restore Points including corruption.
Then go back and turn on system Restore and create a Restore Point.

Firewall issue:
Try installing the firewall, rebooting then try uninstalling.
Check the manufacturers web site.
