Hello and thanks for looking at my problem. I am using win XP Home on a
sony vaio. Everything works great and am not having any troubles with
that . My Son wanted me to install PowerPoint onto my computer from my
Office 2000 CD's. Well I get a "Patch Pack could not be found....."
ERROR. So I thought before I do anything I had better create a restore
point just in case. Well it turns out there are no restore points
available and I cannot create a new one. I don't know how long this
has been this way but I would like to get it corrected as soon as
possible. Any suggestions are welcome. Thank You John :)

In control panel click system properties and then look in 'turn of system
restore'. If it is blank then click it on. If it is already on then click it
off, reboot, then go in an set it on again.

Thanks for you response!
Things are becoming a little more clear of what is happenning. I did
what you said and received the error "System Restore encountered an
Error trying to disable/enable 1 or more drives......" When I looked a
little further I noticed Restore is monitoring Drive D as System Drive.
Over a year ago I installed a new Hard drive as C drive. and used the
old hard drive as slave drives D,E and F. I did everything according
to the way manufacture said it should be done. Everything Worked fine
since and I had no reason to think anything whent wrong until now.
What can I do to correct this. Thanks again, John :)
PS There is a Folder on Drive D that cannot be accessed called "System
Volumn Information" I couldn't delete it so I've always just left it
there.

Go to microsoft.com and enter "System Restore encountered an Error" in the
search box. You'll get many solutions but you should find one that will
answer your problem.
