Alright, i have a wierd sort of situation here.
Those of the faint of heart, stop reading here, for this
is very confusing.

I recently reinstalled windows.
What i did, is I made 2 partitions.
Partition A (5 GB, drive C: )
Partition B (245GB drive F: )

Now on partition A, i installed windows.
After installing, i made some changes to the registry.
In short, i changed the locations of the "program files"
and "documents and settings" folders to the F: instead of
the C:.

Now, the problem that I have, is that whenever i do a
system restore, it put s those changes in the registry
back to the defaults.
In other words, I end up with a blank desktop with no
programs installed.

I know that system restore is probably thinking it's a
change made by some v irus or whatever.
So it's put it back to the defaults thinking it's doing a
good thing. Well, it's not. And I want to find out how to
stop it.

I've tried everything i can think of, but without luck.
So, here i am.

to find out how i made the changes to the registry, view
these URL's.

Additional information
The reason for moving the "program files" and "documents
and settings" folder is to make sure that if i ever have
to format windows, I will not lose any information.

If i were to make a system restore point right now, and
restore to it, the issue would still happen.

5GB is more than enough space for windows xp. There is no
reason to change the drive size, as i still have 2.4GB of
free space left on the drive.

I already do use norton ghost to back up the operatings
system. But restoring from a DVD image takes time. System
restore is much quicker at fixing simple problems as they
arise.

You're doing things the hard way. The registry need not be touched.

Create a Program Files folder on F: and direct the installation of all
"Apps" there.

Next: create a Data folder on F: and create subfolders for data saving
and storage. Direct your saves to the folder of choice.

Don't knock it till you try it.
Right now it's running smoother than anything i've ever
had before. And as long as i don't need to use system
restore, it's fine. Though it would be nice to have a
solution to this one. it's been bugging me for a while.
