Ever since System Restore showed its face in Windows Me I always turned it
off as I rely on images.
In Vista RC-1 build 5728 I also turned off System Restore on all drives and
yet my C: drive (System) free space kept getting lower and lower. Going thru
Disk Cleanup | More Options | System Restore Cleanup I was able to recover
the missing HD space.
Also, when looking at System Properties | System Protection, even though
there was no checkmark in the box for the C: drive it indicated that the
"Most recent restore point" was earlier today. I checked the box for C: then
clicked Apply then unchecked it and clicked Apply again. This changed the
"Most recent restore point" to None.
Is it a bug that Vista will create restore point event though System Restore
is off? Or is it by design?
