system restore back to December 2005

..Hi,

I seem to have lost my thread about whether I could restore my computer back
to a date earlier than the year 2006.

Where did it go? Have I missed something? All I want to know is whether I
can go back to a date in December of last year. I think there is a problem
with the installation and then subsequent removal of itunes which I only
installed because I wanted Quicktime.

Thanks.

You received a few replies, are you using a Newsreader or a browser
to check ? QuickTime is available as a stand-alone download and is
not just available as part of iTunes. The SR calendar will show you all
available points. You'd be better served using an Imaging program like
True Image or Ghost and then be able to do a true Rollback on the PC.

The only way to know if you can go back as far as you want to go is to
open the System Restore option and see if that date is available.

It might be, and it might not. If it isn't, your shit outta luck bucko.

Hi,

How did my reply get to a beta page in google?. I know all about system
restore, but the date at the top i.e January 2006, I an't shift it. It will
not go back before January 2006. Guess this system restore thing just doesn't
work for me.

It's called an archive and can come in handy sometimes. (If you Register,
you can post from there, too.)

Control Panel > System > System Restore (tab): What is your "Disk space to
use" setting? If it's set too low, you won't have as many Restore Points.
(Mine's set to 3,779MB and I have Restore Points going back to 3 Dec-05 or
about 50 days.)
