System Restore automatically at startup

In XP I had SysRestore create a restore point automatically at first boot-up
of each day (believe it was a vbs file in Startup, from Kelley's Korner).
In fact, it ran in the background, requiring no user input.

Does anyone know how to do the same thing in Vista?

Thanks in advance,

George

Click the Start orb and type "scheduler" into the Start Search box.

When it opens, click Library, then Microsoft, then Windows.

Look at all the options in the System Restore area and see if you can
do what you want.

Paul M, thanks a million. I ran it manually and it works perfectly. Have
put it in the Startup folder and look forward to having it "do its thing"
automatically tomorrow morning at bootup.

Thanks again,

George

You might want to turn off auto system restore and leave open the
option to do manual restore (the script is manual).

Do you have any idea how much space each restore point takes? This
isn't anything like XP where you can store months of restore points on
a few gigs of space.

Paul Montgomery, you bring up a good point. In fact, I'm trying to find
where in Vista you can set the maximum amount of megabytes for restore
points, like the slider that lets you do this in XP. I'm totally new to
Vista and have a steep learning curve ahead!

Thanks,

George

Unfortunately it's a hidden thing and something that you have to open
a command window to do.

By default, Vista reserves 15% of your system drive for restore
points. Here's a link with instructions on how to view/change that.
