System Restore Application error

i've been tring to use system restore to make a restore
point in case anything went wrong and i've been getting a
message saying "System Restore Application has
encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry
for the inconvenience" then at the bottom you can click
either "Send Error Report" or "Don't Send." i dont know
what happened but anything to help fix this problem would
be great. Thank you in advance.

It seems that your restore volume folder may be corupted
turn off system restore and reboot, this will delete all
info in your volume files,once you reboot turn on system
restore and create a new checkpoint, Hope this helps!

uh..it seems to give me an error message when i want to

turn off system restore..but then i decided to reinstall
windows xp and the system restore worked again.
Everything seems to work again, but then my dsl wouldn't
work.. Thank you for replying to my message! i'll
remember what you said so next time theres a problem i
can fix it ('cause reinstalling windows takes a long
time!).
