George

Hi Taurarian, I followed your advise and did just as you
have explained, still no luck. I tried it twice and
rebooted as it said to do and I still had no luck. When I
right click on my computer and click on properties I get
this error message:
rstrui.exe -Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point
RemoteAssistancePrepareSystemRestore could not be located
in the dynamic link library WINSTA.dll.

I have left my email address here if you would care to
write directly to me. I have ALS (Lou Gehrigs disease)
and it would be a little easier, this is my web site
address and I get tons of spam there anyway and if I get
more oh well! Thanks for your help it is appreciated.

Hi George,

1. Insert the Windows XP CD
2. Click [Start] [Run]
3. Type the following command and press Enter
"rundll32.exe advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection C:\Windows\Inf\sr.inf"

System Restore core files should be reinstalled.

Alternately, you may also open Windows Explorer, navigate to
"C:\Windows\Inf" folder and right-click sr.inf (choose Install)

I tryed both of your suggestions below but it does not
seem to recognize the CD when inserted. In the Windows
Explorer it when I click on install it asks for the XP CD
but again it will not recognise it.

Copy the contents of the I386 folder from your XP CD to your hard drive.
Then go to Start/Run/Regedit. Go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
In the right pane, change SourcePath to reflrct your settings. NOTE: Do not
include I386 in the path

Oh I think this is going to get the best of me!!! I am
disabled with Lou Gehrigs disease and just cant sit here
doing this too long at a time. I tried this as well but
it did not work either. Maybe if I explain my drives to
you that might be of some assistance. I do a lot of work
for the ALS Society and was running short of memory (I
had 10gb in my C drive) so I got another 40 added and it
is now in my E drive. I have gone in and found duplicate
Windows in both of the drives so I am not sure if things
are being downloaded to C or E or maybe even both. I
tried to do as you suggested and put I386 in my E drive
and "think" that I have the proper path to it. Would it
do any harm to delete all the Windows things out of C and
just use E? Actually all that I use the C drive for now
is storage for the great large PPS files etc that I have
for the Society and then pull them up as needed. Also
would it do any good to reinstall XP do you think??
Questions, questions. I do want to thank you a million
for trying to guide me through this maze though hopefully
there is a solution and it is likely sitting right in
front of my nose.
